MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE PROGRAM AND NEW WORK ROUTINES: GUIDING DOCUMENTS AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PILOT PROJECT AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN BAHIA

Abstract

In March 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic crisis was declared in Brazil. This brought changes to people's daily lives, especially in work relationships. New routines were established, affecting even the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES). Academic and administrative activities became non-face-to-face, and remote work became a reality. With the new practice, new tools and work methods were adopted, with more effective use of information technology. This experience during the pandemic accelerated the federal government's investment in the definitive implementation of telework in the public service, with the implementation of the Performance Management Program (PDG). "PGD is a management instrument that disciplines the development and measurement of activities carried out by its participants, focusing on delivery by results and the quality of services provided to society." (BRAZIL, 2022). The objective of this article is to analyze the PGD (Program for the Development of Work) during the first three months of the pilot project's implementation, from the perspective of the employees participating in the PGD located in the Administrative Directorate (DIRAD), seeking to understand the difficulties and challenges presented, and proposing improvements to support the decision regarding the PGD's continuity. The research methodology adopted is qualitative research, exploratory and descriptive in nature, based on a case study, with a documentary and narrative approach. Among the positive points found, the improvement in the routine and quality of life of the employees stands out, while among the greatest difficulties observed were the elaboration of the work plan and the definition of criteria for evaluating the results.
