PUBLIC POLICIES FOR THE ARTS, CULTURE, AND CREATIVITY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE CULTURAL ECONOMY: A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

The present article presents a historical and conceptual overview of the cultural economics discipline through a panel about of the transformations of cultural policies paradigms over the past 80 years. This article aims to clarify the differences between the concepts of cultural industries, creative industries, cultural economy, and creative economy using as narrative different theoretical and public policy approaches to understand the relationship between economy, art, culture, and creativity.
