The emission of GHG and its relationship with the performance of a country is a topic of great relevance. The works that aim at this theme address internal factors and their relationship with CO2 emissions from certain regions. Despite the mentioned approaches, there is a certain lack of studies aimed at influencing the external sector in the emission levels of a country. Given the importance of the theme, this study seeks to test the existence of a correlation between the variation of PPP and GHG emissions for five sectors of the Brazilian economy. In addition, it consists of testing the existence of the correlation between the increase of purchasing power after the Real Plan and the domestic level of GHG emissions. The results indicated that among the sectors analyzed, only changes in land use and forests did not show a significant correlation. As regards total emissions, they did not correlate with the strengthening of the real in the period considered.
