BETWEEN THE ASHES OF NEOLIBERALISM AND TEACHING IN HIGH SCHOOL: SOCIOLOGICAL CHALLENGES

Neoliberalism, community and violence are notions that are, to a large extent, interlinked. They are deeply related in the debates surrounding social problems, central objects of sociological knowledge. This article proposes the use of Octavia E. Butler's fiction, The Parable of the Sower, as a highly valuable resource for critical and reflective work, along with Nietzsche's work - Genealogy of Morals, as a hermeneutic key to question values established in institutions, in religions, in facts, in norms and in hegemonic notions of truth. We argue for an interrogation of the certainties established until now, including in the scientific field for the analysis of values and for the study of today's social problems. We consider this a priority for training in secondary education, highlighting the importance of the social sciences.
