Abstract

The book “Mental Health, Social Policies and Democracy” written by renowned authors from psychology and social sciences, brings through an interdisciplinary perspective the complex relationship between mental health and the political and social context experienced by society. The relevance of the topic cannot be underestimated, especially considering the global scenario of emotional challenges aggravated by COVID-19. Thus, with the growing concern of psychological well-being, the work offers a critical analysis of social policies and their influence on the approach to mental health and how democracy can impact related public policies. Based on this context, the review aims to analyze the book and reflect on the importance of contributing to more informed and conscious debates about the importance of public policies that prioritize psychological well-being and social inclusion.
