THE INFLUENCE OF LEADERSHIP ON EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

The role of the leader has become indispensable in companies, since he can give his team the will to do the best, to innovate, to create new ways to carry out the activities, to lead the unforeseen with tranquility and creativity, influencing people to reach their own objectives and those of the organization. For these factors to occur, there needs to be motivation from all involved. Therefore, this work aims to understand, from the point of view of the leadership, how leadership influences the motivation of the team members in a company of the metallurgical segment in Caxias do Sul - RS. As a methodology, a questionnaire was used in 69 employees from the administrative area of a company that manufactures machines and equipment for the beverage, food and chemical industry segment, to ascertain the level and orientation of the motivation, as well as the style of the leader perceived by the led. The results show that there is a high level of motivation in most of the interviewees and they are a focus on success. Complementing, their leaders reveal an integrative style. On the other hand, it was identified that gender, working time and average salary do not influence in a statistically significant way the motivation of the employees.
