THE COMPANY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Social responsibility is related to the role of a company as a holder of resources necessary to promote sustainable development, in addition to the mandatory requirements of the law. A company must follow an ethical and transparent conduct, implementing actions that benefit society as a whole, having a good relationship with its stakeholders, seeking to meet the current needs of the population without compromising the ability of future generations to develop harmoniously. To understand how social responsibility is put into practice, this study uses a cosmetics company as a model. In terms of purpose, this is a descriptive research, as it exposes the sociocultural characteristics of a company. In terms of means: a case study; a bibliographic research, as it uses material accessible to the general public. Due to its accessibility and transparency, the example used is that of Natura S.A., a Brazilian company operating in the cosmetics and health sector, recognized for its commitment to sustainability and repeatedly highlighted for its social performance by the Ethos Institute of Companies and Social Responsibility.
