The article examines the impact of climate change on the urban environment and highlights the importance of public policies that encourage the transition to a sustainable energy matrix. The research adopts the deductive method based on a systematic literature review, utilizing the PRISMA protocol for data collection. National and international studies addressing the integration of energy policies with urban strategies were analyzed. The methodological procedures include graphical and content analyses, allowing an in-depth understanding of best practices and challenges in implementing these policies. Based on data extracted from databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, the study identifies gaps in the literature and explores recent trends in integrating urban planning and energy policies. The results emphasize that diversifying the energy matrix, especially through sustainable sources, is crucial to mitigating the impacts of climate change. Furthermore, the study highlights the relevance of public policies that promote clean technologies, such as smart grids and green buildings, to reduce carbon emissions. It concludes that integrating urban policies, including specific policies for cities, with energy strategies is essential for sustainable development, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 7 and 13 of the 2030 Agenda.
