This essay presents digressions on the phenomenon of nationalism in the world context and in its Brazilian manifestations. The nationalism concept has usually been associated with aggressive, restrictive, protectionist attitudes. In the Brazilian case, under the Brazilian government, it adopted the subservient form of submission to a foreign power.
