THE TEACHING OF SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY IN SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION: AN EXPERIENCE IN PARALLAX

The contemporary educational scenario within the scope of Social Work has been marked by constant transformations, demanding a critical and innovative review in the teaching of fundamental disciplines, such as Social Psychology. Therefore, this article aims to shed light on the pedagogical perspectives and educational possibilities that emerge in the contemporaneity of Social Psychology Teaching in Social Work Training, delineating them from the author's teaching experience. Methodologically, the Experience Report was used as a reference, a research method and scientific writing that is anchored in the experience of one or more authors about a certain context, intimately articulating practice and theory. By analyzing the intersection between Social Psychology and Social Work, as results, we seek not only to understand the theories and fundamental concepts of the former but also to explore pedagogical approaches that promote a more qualified, critical, and aligned education with the demands and challenges of the present for the latter. Therefore, to do so, we examine a teaching experience in the interdisciplinary interface in question, identifying possibilities for Higher Education in Social Psychology for Social Work students, proposing, furthermore, a teaching outline structured in three central curricular pillars (Introduction to Social Psychology; History of Social Psychology; Contemporary Social Psychology). In this way, the central themes and fundamental authors that can assist in the development of the discipline as a whole are developed, as suggested. In conclusion, we reinforce that there are no desires to hegemonize or homogenize teaching in the interface here in question, but rather a deep desire to share a successful experience and to produce dialogues with peers who, in different educational spaces, also venture into the Teaching of Social Psychology, focused on contemporary social complexities, for different professional areas – alongside Social Work, and beyond.
