This study compares the ammunition surveillance methods of the Brazilian Army (EB – Exército Brasileiro) and the Army of the United States (EUA – Estados Unidos), aiming to identify opportunities for improvement in the management of ammunition stocks in Brazil. The research focuses on detailing the basic characteristics of inspection activities, functional tests, and laboratory examinations of the mentioned management systems, using flexibility and cost-effectiveness as the main comparison parameters. The findings reveal that the more flexible approach employed by the USA in conducting these activities contributes to greater efficiency and sustainability of its stocks, contrasting with the more traditional methodology adopted by the EB. In conclusion, it is suggested the integration of complementary analysis methods, the use of mobile systems for field testing, and the updating of national regulatory guidelines, to promote greater safety and better economy in the management of the EB's ammunition.
