Ethics and Best Practices Statement
This statement establishes the ethical principles and best practices adopted by the Boletim de Conjuntura Journal (BOCA) throughout the submission, evaluation, and publication process of scientific works.
The Boletim de Conjuntura Journal follows the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE – http://publicationethics.org/), reaffirming its commitment to academic integrity and excellence in scientific publishing. During the evaluation process, the principles of impersonality, confidentiality, and the absence of conflicts of interest are ensured.
Journal Responsibilities
The Boletim de Conjuntura Journal is responsible for the application and compliance with this Ethics and Best Practices Statement in relation to all published works. Its responsibilities include:

Ensuring academic freedom of expression;

Being available to authors, readers, and reviewers in case of questions or needs;

Ensuring that all manuscripts are evaluated impartially, based on scientific merit;

Maintaining the quality of published content;

Publishing errata, retractions, or corrections whenever necessary;

Conducting peer review under a double-blind system;
-
Submitting all manuscripts to plagiarism detection tools;

Using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring the security and confidentiality of all stages of the editorial process.
Editors’ Responsibilities
The editors of the BOCA Journal are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts are evaluated according to uniform criteria, without discrimination of any kind, considering only quality and scientific merit. They must also:

Take appropriate measures in cases of allegations or suspicions of ethical misconduct;

Investigate and address all complaints with seriousness, confidentiality, and transparency;

Ensure that editorial decisions comply with the journal’s policies and guidelines.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Before initiating the evaluation process, reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest. Reviewers are responsible for:

Contributing to the quality of the evaluated content;

Complying with the evaluation criteria and forms provided by the journal;

Suggesting improvements to enhance the manuscript;
-
Informing the editors of any suspicion of plagiarism or similarity with other previously published works.
Authors’ Responsibilities
Authors submitting manuscripts to the Boletim de Conjuntura Journal must:

Be aware of and agree with the journal’s guidelines available in the “About” and “Submissions” sections;

Declare any potential conflicts of interest;

Confirm agreement with the submission conditions at the time of article submission;

Assume full responsibility for the accuracy and truthfulness of the information provided;

Promptly inform the editors if any error is identified in their work, contributing, when necessary, to the publication of errata.
