Abstract

The growing relevance of ecosystem services (ES) in scientific and environmental policy discussions reflects the need to integrate ecological, economic, and social dimensions for nature conservation and human well-being. This article conducts a bibliometric and qualitative analysis of scientific publications on the subject, with emphasis on the interrelationship between geodiversity and ecosystem services, adopting the PRISMA 2020 protocol for the construction of a bibliometric mapping. The research was carried out in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, with data collection conducted in May 2025. Articles published between 2000 and 2025, in English and Portuguese, were included, while theses, dissertations, grey literature, and non-indexed documents were excluded. After duplicate removal, a final set of 191 articles was obtained. Analyses were performed using bibliometrics with the Bibliometrix package in the RStudio environment, enabling the identification of trends, most productive authors, co-authorship networks, frequent keywords, and thematic maps. Additionally, the CATMA (Computer Assisted Text Markup and Analysis) software was employed for qualitative analysis, allowing the coding of excerpts, organization of analytical categories, and interpretation of thematic clusters based on tag co-occurrence. The results indicate that, although biodiversity still concentrates most of the publications, there is a growing recognition of geodiversity as a fundamental support for ecological processes and the provision of ecosystem services. It is concluded that strengthening the dialogue between the fields of geodiversity and ecosystem services is essential for advancing a holistic understanding of the environment in which we live.
