Abstract

This text is a book review of “Roots of my Being: my indigenous past present”. The work aims to promote the debate in favor of indigenous causes, mainly through the report of the resistance and struggle of the Tremembé people from Ceará, as well as the self-acceptance of the author of the book as part of this people, and also, it raises reflections on the issue Brazilian history through the broader perspective of indigenous literature, denouncing those who were deceived, invaded, persecuted, enslaved, violated in all ways and declared extinct in the Brazilian context through irresponsible public policies.
